  • According to a statement issued to the Stock Exchange following 7digital’s AGM, the company said it needs to raise £4.5m by 31 July to avoid entering administration. (DMN) eMusic has offered £1.3m and is planning a mass market distribution project using 7digital’s blockchain platform.

  • Beatport LINK, the streaming subscription service for DJs, is now available in the public beta of Pioneer DJ’s rekordbox software. (RotD)
  • Jeff Ponchick, VP of SoundCloud-owned distribution service Repost has posted "we’re calling all independent creators who have been impacted by recent changes on Spotify and Stem to come to SoundCloud to learn more about what the world’s largest audio platform can do for them".
  • Almost a year since its launch, Spotify is shutting down its upload beta programme, which allows independent artists to load their music directly onto the platform for free. (Spotify) Artists are being given until the end of the month to transition to another distributor, and will only be paid for streams on their uploaded content through July 2019.
  • Users who “pre-save” an upcoming release to their Spotify accounts may be sharing more personal data with the act’s label than they realise. (Billboard)
  • Apple Music has now surpassed 60m total subscribers worldwide. That figure includes paid and trial users, according to Apple. (Billboard)
