  • London’s Field Day festival has faced a backlash in recent weeks because it is owned by Superstruct, in turn owned by KKR, which has investments in Israel. As other Superstruct events also come under fire, both Field Day and fellow London festival Mighty Hoopla have now issued statements. (CMU)

  • A campaigner who argued that music festivals held in south London's Brockwell Park unfairly cut off large sections of the space and made it a “mud bath” has won a court case that could result in events, including Field Day and Mighty Hoopla, being banned there this summer. (Guardian) 
    Michael Kill, CEO of the Night Time Industries Association commented “If we allow pressure to shut down these events to succeed, we are not just cancelling a few days of music — we are dismantling a vital ecosystem of creativity, work, and community connection that cannot be easily rebuilt."     Brockwell Live have confirmed that Wide Awake, Field Day, the Mighty Hoopla and other festivals will go ahead as planned this summer. (BBC) 
  • IMS will return to Dubai this November for its second edition. The two-day summit of panels, showcases, and networking focused on music, culture, finance, and tech across the MENA region will take place on 13-14 November at 25hours Hotel One Central. (ElectronicGroove)

  • Insomniac has launched a new streaming app offering nonstop electronic music, without ads or subscription requirements. (DMN) 
  • Spotify has officially added voice-based music requests to AI DJ, listener engagement with which is said to have “nearly doubled over the past year.” (DMN) 
  • Apple Music has introduced a feature — a built-in music tool to make transferring from another DSP much easier. The tool will help users import their libraries and playlists from other music services directly into Apple Music. (DMN) 
  • SoundCloud CEO Eliah Seton published an open letter addressing concerns over its 2024 Terms of Use update which was intended to clarify how content may interact with AI technologies within its platform. (SoundCloud)
