  • V Recordings have launched a new mentorship programme for emerging jungle drum & bass artists. (DJ) 
  • In June, independent artist Anthony Justice sued AI company Suno for copyright infringement, following the lead of the major labels. His lawsuit made copyright claims about Suno’s training data and the tracks it outputs. Suno says the claims relating to the outputs should be immediately dismissed. (CMU) 
  • The DJ Awards announced 2025 nominees and brand new categories, as voting opened. (RotD)

  • Spotify has signalled further price rises, tied to new services and features. It is keen to encourage users to build playlists and engage with its service as a counter to the rollout of AI-driven content. (DMN) Alex Norström, co-president and chief business officer said it was "a goal” to have 1bn subscribers, and that the superfan subscription is "making progress... but it’s taking time.” 
  • Spotify is introducing a new feature that allows subscribers to create more professional, personalised playlists. A custom transitions feature lets users either automatically add transitions between a playlist’s tracks or customise their own using preset options like fade, rise, or blend, along with other options. (TechCrunch) 
  • Designed specifically for DJs and dance music culture, 24/7 live-streaming platform LFG.TV will offer genre-focused channels and direct monetisation tools, from its launch date of 30 August. (RotD) 
  • YouTube Music celebrates 10 years with new features that bring it closer to rivals. The app will now include “Taste Match” playlists, which are playlists that combine multiple users’ overlapping interests, similar to Spotify Blend. (TechCrunch)
